Mark Harper comments in The Times on how more couples are settling divorces in private as financial dispute resolution hearings rise and the wealthy seek to avoid courts overcrowded with unrepresented litigants.
Mark Harper, family partner at Hughes Fowler Carruthers, says: “Given the collapse of the court system with government cutbacks and a flood of litigants in person, there is a huge rise in private FDRs and arbitration. Often judges are not available at court for hearings listed months in advance.”
