Our client Christina Estrada has today been awarded a £53m settlement in a high court divorce battle with her billionaire ex-husband, Dr Walid Juffali.

The award made to Christina Estrada leaves her with approximately £75 million, including her own assets. This is, by more than £50 million, the largest needs award ever made by an English Court and is also the largest Part III award. Dr Juffali had initially offered £17 million.

The Judge accepted that Dr Juffali and Christina Estrada had lived an extraordinary and exorbitant life and that this should be reflected, if not replicated, in the award.

The circumstances in which this hearing took place were both highly unusual and distressing. Dr Juffali went to extraordinary lengths, including obtaining diplomatic immunity, to prevent Estrada from pursuing her claims through the English Court, despite the fact he had already married his third wife unbeknownst to Mrs Estrada and her daughter.
