Archie Best works in all areas of family law, and in particular on complicated financial cases, divorce, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, co-habitation agreements, matters relating to children, and international law. He often acts for clients with public profiles, occasionally in the context of press interest, and does so with discretion and sensitivity.
Archie is a competent and confident negotiator, willing and able to use lateral thinking to ensure the best outcome for his client. His clients appreciate his commitment, judgement and intelligence. The Legal 500 UK 2021 praised him as a “talented associate”.
Ranked in Chambers HNW 2022, Archie is commended as being “incredibly hard working” and a source notes that “when there’s a case with immense detail, he’s who you want on your side”. He is praised as “very clever, extremely numerate, and has very good judgement” and “a star of the future.”
Archie works mainly with Mark Harper who describes him as “a class act”, “critical in winning cases” and “brilliant at preparing for trial”. He was a key contributor to the Third Edition of International Trust and Divorce Litigation, co-authored by partner Mark Harper, which has been described as “the must have leading authority providing an indispensable steer for lawyers, trust practitioners, bankers and others through the legal jungle that is international trusts in a divorce law context”.
Archie also co-wrote with Partner Mark Harper a chapter on family law in the recently published Global Mobility of Ultra-High-Net-Worth Individuals, which has been described as an invaluable tool for lawyers, tax advisers, bankers and all professionals who assist UHNWIs.
Archie regularly advises at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, delivering free legal advice to people who cannot afford a solicitor.
